Dear Friends!
In most parts of the country, November means falling leaves, cool air, and the slow settling of winter. Here in Maui, the change of seasons is more subtle—the trade winds shift, the rains return, and the sunsets take on a deeper hue. The plumeria may still bloom, the palms still sway, but even here, creation reminds us that time moves forward, and God’s mercies are new with every season.
It’s easy to think of “fall” as something that happens elsewhere, but perhaps our island version of it offers a deeper lesson. While others rake leaves, we can pause to receive—to notice the gentle and more subtle changes that God brings, the blessings that don’t fade, and the quiuet ways His faithfulness continues to surround us.
Paul reminds us, “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, and be thankful” (Colossians 3:15). Thanksgiving isn’t bound to a certain climate or tradition—it’s a spiritual rhythm, a way of
seeing God’s hand in all things. Whether we’re sharing a meal with family, serving in our church, or watching a golden sunset over the ocean, we can choose to live in gratitude.
So as we move through this Hawaiian “fall,” may we let thankfulness take root in us. May our lives reflect the warmth of Christ’s love, and may our hearts stay open to the blessings He pours out—season after season, wave after wave.
